The following community resources are available to LOW residents:
Quick Guide to Family Resources for Orange County
Prepared by Piedmont United Way, Inc.
Orange Senior Center: The Orange Senior Center (OSC), located at 110 Old Gordonsville Road, Orange, is open Mon.-Thurs. from 10:00 am-2:00 pm. The center provides an opportunity for seniors (60 and over) to socialize, take field trips, play cards and games, etc. Transportation to and from the center is free and the center also provides a hot lunch free of charge. Currently, two residents from LOW attend the center on a regular basis. To learn more about the center and the services it provides, please contact Marci Pearson, OSC’s Supervisor, at 540-672-5926 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
Care-A-Van and Retired and Senior Volunteer Driving Program (RSVP): Care-A-Van and RSVP both operate out of Culpeper and are programs of the RRCS. These programs, which serve seniors (60 or older) and persons with disabilities, provide free transportation for healthcare and legal appointments, with 48 business hours’ notice required, Monday through Friday. If assistance is needed inside the healthcare or legal facility, the person being transported needs to bring someone to help out. Transportation is on a First Come/First Served basis, and depends on availability of volunteers. Also, Care-A-Van has three vans with handicap accessibility. Donations are accepted. Care-A-Van and RSVP can be reached at 540-825-3100, extension 3358 or 3013. Residents may also call the Orange Senior Center for assistance in setting up volunteer transportation (see above).
